The relationships proceed from physics, the physical, down towards the metaphysical, the foundations, and upwards towards the possible, the idea(l).

Starting from (inter)activity and its attraction/repulsion expression. Its dynamic, we proceed to the organic systolic/diastolic and, with the advancement of consciousness and the evolution of a nervous system, to intentional movement towards good/bad, taking the form of good/evil in religious, ethical contexts.

From genes to memes.
From the physical, the real, to the projection in space/time of the idealistic, the yet to be possible/probable.
When the detachment has severed this connection the ideal becomes unreal, improbable. This is "corrected" by fabricating a more real reality, or a beyond, where the impossible/improbable becomes, in theory, possible/probable - inversion.

Every concept can be reattached to the real, from where it has been detached, since it is from there that it emerges and there where it refers.

As an example I use the one I always use, Humanity.
Stripped from its origins it becomes a idea(l), which can then be imagined in any way possible, since reality no longer restricts its definition, but only the necessity to communicate the idealistic redefinition.
We can use any word, referring to concepts Moderns desire to "cleanse" of their origins, and their connections to organic life, and to the real.
Let's consider the concept 'love'...an emotion, a sensation.

Rooted in lust, and evolving to facilitate, first reproduction and then infant raising, and then social bonding.
An expression of the attractive component of (inter)activity, of what we call Flux.

Attraction > Eros > lust-Love - assimilation, unity, uniformity, inclusion, immersing - implosive - esoteric - constructive

Repulsion > Thymos > rage-Hate - discrimination, individuality, distinctiveness, exclusion, separating - explosive - exoteric - destructive

Both forces are essential for the emergence, and continuance of life, and of all existence because they are part of (inter)activity we experience as change and measure as space/time.
Existence = dynamic, (inter)activity = Flux.
Flux is this attraction/repulsion of (niter)acting patterns (order) and non-patterns (chaos) energies.

Unity is a coincidental (inter)action in space time, between patterns, or it is this coincidental (inter)activity establishing a balance, when the forces of repulsion are sufficiently counter-balanced by the forces of attraction between the participating patterned, and non-patterned energies.
Because everything that exists is dynamic and existence is defined as (inter)activity, this balance is in reference to energies not participating in the unity - the emergent unity, because it is  always ephemeral.
The time/space, period/duration of its unification determined by the environment = the fluctuating world beyond the unity.

Attrition is the byproduct of (inter)activity.
With every (inter)action, repulsion/attraction affects all participating patterns, reducing their speed and rhythm, or breaking apart unite, congruities of patterns - therefore linear time is experienced as increased entropy, and increasing chaos defined as randomness and not only complexity.
The religious metaphor of God and Paradise implies this re-turn back to near-absolute - Big Bang.
God = absolute order - good
Devil = absolute chaos - evil

Cosmic Yin/Yang.
absolute would mean the end of space/time. It is BECAUSE there is no absolute that we exist...and so Got and Satan, to use those metaphors,. are in a constant struggle, with devil chipping away at god's power - decreasing order means the slow elimination of matter/energies, or patterns.
Hell = absolute chaos, randomness - infinity of possibility, no probability.
Paradise = absolute order - singularity. Possibility imploding to a probability of ONE - certainty.

We can now understand the mind/body hypothetical divide - connected via the nervous system, which includes the hub we call brain.
Mind = energy
Body = matter

Speed = less (inter)activity, since movement in space means possibility of (inter)action.
Any increase in one direction, one dimension of possibilities, means a decrease in all others.
As speed increases, acceleration, possible interactions shrink, eliminating all other possible (inter)actions, therefore attrition is reduced.

Two speeds to consider here.
Rate of vibration/oscillation, perceived as type of matter/energy - pattern.
Movement in space, relative to other patterns - velocity.
Movement in space is movement within the possible, relative to the attraction/repulsion fields of effects of other patterns or unities of patterns we call congruities.
When a congruity is one of different kinds of patterns, such as with most forms of matter,  velocity, increasing the possibility of (inter)action, would increase its possible deconstruction, as the impact would shatter the balance of attraction/repulsion.

Balance is, therefore, not only a product of attraction/repulsion reaching an equilibrium, but also a product of velocity, movement in spatial possibility.
Sudden deceleration, impact, due to this difference in velocity, and their sudden (inter)action, will result in the overcoming of the attraction force, multiplying repulsion.
Destructiveness of repulsion = a dis-agreement between vibrations/oscillation, manifesting as attraction/repulsion, and in a rate of movement in space, relative to other patterns.

History includes not only your lifetime but your entire genetic past.
Self is this entire past.
Know Thyself is this endless discovery of self.
genes = memories, stored experiences, manifesting in predispositions and potentials - probabilities.
All order is a description of probability within, or in relation to space/time possibility.
Chaos = randomness, which means infinite possibilities.

Fortunately both order and chaos are never absolute,a s nothing ever is, because both would mean an end to existence, one as the implosion of existence into a singularity, therefore no space/time and no interactivity, and the other as absolute infinite possibility, making life superfluous and impossible because life depends and is ordering.

To know self is to know as much of the past, the nurturing which is called your nature, as you are a manifestation, of this past - this past made present.
In essence your past is you. So to know you is to know this past.
Nature = sum of all past nurturing.

To know self you do not begin with the present, immediate, the nurturing.
Genes to Memes.

Culture as a product of memes, does not magically emerge, out of nothing, it is part of a continuum going back to a genetic past, within a particular population evolved, nurtured, within a particular environment.
History deals with documented past, but know thyself does not stop at 2-3 thousand years ago when human civilizations emerged, but goes further back.
Each culture emerges within a particular environment from a particular population, genetic group.
If it is successful it can spread to include foreign genetic populations, if not it slowly disappears taking with it this past.

I have just been reading the Things To Read thread. Books and articles there I am very interested in. But what struck me was your reference with
regard to understanding history in order to know yourself. I think history is very important. But the problem with it is that it can be viewed from a
modern perspective which can give a negative distorted view. So it should therefore be viewed more from the perspective of its own time. Though
it may still be negative but it would be a more accurate representation. Now we have absolutely no idea how the historians of the future will judge
this era. But it would be inappropriate to do so according to their own standards. And especially if they are not ones we would recognise ourselves

I do not want to be protected from my delusions although I would rather not have any at all. And so I try to be as
delusion free as possible. And when using words one should be as precise as possible with regard to definition. To
avoid ambiguity or confusion. Since this is actually more important than there being universal agreement on them

The Big Bang was not the beginning of the universe simply the beginning of local cosmic expansion
It is possible that time existed before the singularity. But if it did the singularity did not experience
it. The laws of physics break down at the singularity because infinity is referenced in the equations
This makes no sense as all probabilities have to exist between 0 and 1 so cannot be outside of this

Trying to define and describe fluctuating phenomena using static symbols, referring to simplifications/generalizations (abstractions) is a difficult task, necessitating artistry.
How does one define and describe the counter-intuitive intuitively?
Like an artists uses techniques to represent movement, change, we must use words, metaphorically, artistically.

We begin by reconnecting them to the references points in world, from where nihilism has detached them.
The metaphor to be used is of a man standing on the earth, reaching for the sky.
This image of feet solidly placed upon the earth, is how we must attach words solidly in reality, before we can then reach, cognitively, upwards, towards the unknown.

A word detached from world, represents a mind detached from reality.
All its consequent thinking, metaphors will be like a fantasy, with no reference to anything experienced.
A pleasing, liberating feeling, for sure, and one moderns, as nihilists infected by a mental, memetic dis-ease, consider the benefit of being delusional, particularly when the environment protects them from the consequences of this dreaming and fantasizing.
A reason why moderns are also social justice warriors, and socialists and egalitarian, and pro all inclusive systems.
A strong State protects them form the repercussion of their own delusions, so as to permit them to invent any alternate reality they desire, and live within it, becoming indifferent to everything else.

Words commonly detached from reality are by moderns:
Human
Love
Sex
Race
God
Self
Beauty
Artificial
Nature
Superior/Inferior
Order/Chaos

Detachment means their conversion from symbols connecting noumena to phenomena, to pure noumenon, in other words to pure idea, theory, abstraction.
I call this their sanctification.

Now, the same words can mean anything to anyone - subjective.
It no longer has to refer to something outside the mind, but only to a pleasing feeling, or a theory an idea that only exists in the mind.

Space
Possibility.
The projection of possibility relating one phenomenon with another.
Space occupied by an organism is the encompassing of possibility with a membrane within which the organism increases its willful control - never complete/absolute, never static always dynamic, an ongoing process.
Existence = dynamic, (inter)activity of patterns: vibration/oscillation at a particular rate/speed, and rhythm = order.
Non-patterns = vibration/oscillation at no particular speed or rhythm = random/chaos.
Space is the relationship between dynamic processes: ordered or disordered.
To a conscious observer space is the projection of probability, within possibilities based on the appreciation of speeds and rhythms.

 Time
The measure of change (flux) within space (possibility).
The observer measures change in relation to itself - its metabolic rates, and the speed of cognitive processing we call consciousness.
But change can be measured relative to the observer's relationship to two phenomena - objectively.
Using self as a standard the organism juxtaposes two phenomena evaluating their rhythms, speeds, in other words the oscillation/vibrations, or their dynamism, relative to each other.
Another word for change is movement.
Movement in space is the measure of change within a field of possibility.
As speed increases towards one spatial dimension, it decreases in all others = increase/decrease of possible (inter)action.
As one approaches the speed-of-light as the fastest phenomenon man can perceive,e establishing a event-horizon, possibilities tend towards the singularity, which means shrinking possibilities and the increase towards one.

Dimension is a spatial category.
It indicates a field of effect, or a field of possible (inter)action.
An organisms spatial dimensions are the extensions of its field of effect - in other words the congruence of patterns and the attraction/repulsion field they produce as an aggregate of their combined energies.

If we try to visualize what I am saying we can begin with a pattern, relating to one or more other patterns, establishing a relationship of attraction/repulsion which may or may not become stable.
If stable this relationship can now be called a unity, and be given other names such as particle, quanta, atom, all the way up to more complex unities we call organisms.
In the case of a energy, such as light, one type of pattern is combined into larger or smaller aggregates - increase in force.

We call these combinations of patterns, of the same kind, or different kinds, phenomena.
The brain processing and interpreting them in a way it has evolved to interpret such phenomena.

Matter = slower, relative to man, vibrations/oscillation, or dynamic energies.
Energy - faster, relative to man, vibrations/oscillation, or dynamic energies.

The rhythm establishes what type of matter and/or energy we are perceiving
It's speed, establishes its possibilities, relative to the observer, or relative to another pattern.

A phenomenon, a pattern, has two factors the observer uses to interpret it:
1- Its vibrating/oscillating rhythm (if it is ordered) - this is what we call type, kind, and we divide into the general categories of matter/energy and then sub-categories such as types of matter and types of energy.
The force of its vibration/oscillation is a measure of its field of effect, in other words the field of possibilities (space) its oscillation/vibration can affect other phenomena, other patterns (attract/repel).
2- It's movement in space (possibility) relative to the observer and/or to another phenomenon.
This movement is the evaluation of its potential/possible (inter)actions, in other words the potential for its field of effect to (inter)act with those of another.

So as potential increases in relation to some phenomena, direction, they decrease in relation to others - this is called movement, or acceleration/speed.

The above 1 & 2 relative to the observer is what we call time - subjective.
If the observer uses measures by taking himself out of the observation, relating one phenomenon to another, then this is objective time.
Therefore measuring change/speed relative to observing self time may be differently than when measuring change/speed relative to how one phenomenon relates to another.

Linear time
Man experiences time/space as a steady movement, a steady change, relative to his own biorhythms, or to a external standard, such as a quartz vibration, which is, in turn, relative to his own biorhythms.
We divide this rate of change into past (determined, immutable), present (immediate past), and future, a theoretical projection of probabilities based on perceived patterns and their understanding (patterns within patterns).
The rate of change is based on the rates of (inter)actions of all patterns, and this (inter)action results in a steady increase do chaos.
This is also experienced as a movement apart, or a decrease in matter/energies, or order.
To put it another way, it is experiences as an expansion of space (possibilities).
Time remains steady as long as our own biorhythms and the patterns they relate to remain steady.
We experience this as consistency.

But as space expands, in other words possibilities tend toward the infinite, without ever attaining it, (inter)actions will tend towards the infinite, as all that is possible will be, and probability will decrease, as portability indicated order, tending towards a uniformity of possibility = chaos/randomness.
Time, in such a state will be experienced by an organism like as, as a frenzy, a acceleration...our lifetime insignificant. We will have no time to live...until towards the infinite there is no possibility of life.
Relative to us, as organisms, time is accelerating, as space is expanding.

Black Hole
It is said that on the edge of a black hole time slows down.
If we recall that matter is order, vibration/oscillating as a particular rhythms then the mass we call a black hole is matter slowed down to the point where it seems to drop out of existence.
Its attraction/repulsion field of effect sucks in all energies ordering them into a near-absolute singularity, which is never completed.
Change slows to the point where it is imperceptible, therefore relative to an organism, such as us, it indicated a slowing down of flux, which is what time measures, relative to our biorhythms and our cognitive processing speeds.
If we use other words we can describe the same thing as such:
as we enter into a black whole all is ordered to a near-absolute degree, which means possibility implodes into a near certain probability, which decreases (inter)activity, change, to nearly nil.
Singularity refers to this theoretical absolute point of order, where all possibility become ONE certainty, one probability.

Of course this would mean an end to existence,a s existence is dynamic (inter)activity, therefore this is a theoretical point in space/time never to be realized.
This is why i use 'tend towards' or 'near, absolute'.

In theory this near absolute can reach a point that would create what we know as the Big Band - a near-absolute exploding, due to chaos, into what we know as existence.
So, within this theory we can find r an explanation of how and why new universes emerge.
This does not mean all black holes are new universes, but only that one, or more, of them, as it sucks in more matter/energy, increasing its approach towards the absolute, which would demand infinite energies, will produce what will then be experienced as a new Big Bang.

Returning back to the phenomenon of light.
Light is an energy on the very edge of our perceptual acuity.
As I said earlier, it is the fastest phenomenon, or pattern, we as humans can process....therefore it represents for us a perceptual event-horizon, the edge, the extreme point of our perceptual limits.
This is why it has become such a powerful symbol, and metaphor.
Speeds of vibration, acceleration beyond that is perceived, interpreted, as darkness, setting up the cognitive distinction between light/dark that dominates our mythologies.
There are patterns faster than photons, but we cannot perceive them, process them.

For this reason light is perceived as a brightness with no distinctive parts.

Speed-of-light is steady because it cannot (inter)acts with most, but only a few, other patterns.
This makes it a good medium to perceive, judge and measure.
As a type of energy its oscillation/vibration is at a rate that it can only (inter)acts with a few other types of patterns, and with slower ones, such as matter, minimally.
The field of effect of other patterns has to reach an extreme level, such as in black holes, for light to be affected by them.

Pan Philosophy Debates / TIME
« Last post by surreptitious57 on March 01, 2017, 01:58:34 am »
There be three definitions of time : the distance between an event / the passing of an
event / the passing of a thought [ where an event is defined as a point in spacetime ]

Time is not uniform and absolute as Newton thought but different for different observers depending on speed and frame of reference. Special relativity stipulates
that the closer an object of mass gets to the speed of light the slower time goes. Now photons travel at the speed of light travel through time but do not actually
experience time. Although from the frame of reference of an external observer like a human being they do so because the speed of light is finite at  299 792 458
metres per second. Because time therefore depends up on how fast an object is travelling and what frame of reference it is in the notion of past and present and
future must logically be true. Were time static then there would be zero motion for objects of mass since that can only occur over time. A day is determined by a
complete rotation of the Earth on its axis and a year by a complete orbit of the Sun. But if the Earth and everything else in the Universe was static then concepts
such as day and year would be entirely meaningless. So time is not absolute. Because if it was nothing would experience motion and neither would any thing age

No,  the crazies at the main forum must be censoring it. It stops once I "pay" for the forum.

They do this purely to harass people into more profits. I'm gonna extract all the data from this forum if they keep it up and move it to a private server,  cost about the same,  but wouldn't be feeding bad moderator behavior.
